"Extant," a new scripted series starring Halle Berry, will debut on July 2 at 9 p.m. EST, CBS announced on Wednesday (Jan. 15).
The mystery thriller from Steven Spielberg is about a female astronaut (Berry) who tries to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space. According to a statement from CBS, her experiences "lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history." Berry will co-executive produce the series.
CBS discussed "Extant" at the Television Critics Association winter press tour and reporters noted that Berry's character would return from the space mission pregnant with an alien baby who "poses a threat to android son." Yes. This is actually the plot.
Emmy winner Camryn Manheim joined the "Extant" cast as a series regular in January and will play Berry's best friend and closest confidant.
